The Sprinkle Project was born from a mix of heart, lived experience, and the belief that every child deserves to feel celebrated. Growing up with foster siblings, I heard stories of birthdays spent in silence—no cake, no candles, just another day. As I got older, I realized it’s not just children in foster care who go without. Sometimes, it’s the “normal” kid—the one who looks like they have it all together—quietly slipping through the cracks.

Baking has always been my love language, and over time, I realized it could be something more. After immersing myself in nonprofit work and seeing how many children go unseen, The Sprinkle Project took shape.

Today, we provide free, custom birthday cakes to children in foster care and families facing hardship across Nelson and Hardin County. But these cakes are more than flour and frosting. Every single one is made with intention—designed around the child’s personality, favorite things, and whatever little spark might light up their day. It’s not just about sugar and celebration. It’s about sending a message: You are seen. You are special. You are worth celebrating.

We may be small, but our mission is big: to make sure no child goes unnoticed on their special day.

Because every child deserves a moment. A memory. A cake that says, “You matter.”

Every birthday matters
